The Dallas Business Journal, in awarding Ebby Halliday the 2002 Best of Business Readers’ Choice award for residential real estate said, “Ebby Halliday REALTORS’ recognizable red and white signs are part of the Metroplex’s residential landscape.

After 58 years in the business, Ebby Halliday has grown into one of the largest privately owned residential real estate companies in the United States.

With the well-known matriarch and President Mary Frances Burleson at its helm, it helped more than 17,000 families find homes in 2002 and earned $3.6 billion in sales volume.”

Ebby Halliday Acers founded a one-office real estate agency in Dallas in 1945. Today, her namesake company, Ebby Halliday, REALTORS has become one of the largest privately owned residential real estate firms in the country. And Ms. Halliday is a role model for women entrepreneurs nationwide.

Ebby is a proven leader and innovator within the real estate industry and for women in business. She nurtured her real estate agency into a 26-office operation that assists more than 17,000 families a year move into their dream homes or realize a return on investment for their property.

Ebby was an early winner of the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) by the National Association of REALTORS in 1979. She and her late husband, Maurice Acers, both were awarded the DSA by the International Real Estate Federation at the Rome Congress in 1985.

She has served as president of the North Dallas Chamber; was one of the founders of a Beautiful Clean Dallas; has served on the Board of the State Fair of Texas; and is a supporter of the Dallas Arboretum.Ebby Halliday

Ebby currently serves the community as president of Thanksgiving Square; serves on the St. Paul Medical Foundation Board; serves on the Board of the Communities Foundation of Texas and Dallas County Community College District Foundation; and is still very active in the operation of her 57-year old company.

In 1996, Ms. Halliday was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame and the Texas Women's Hall of Fame.

She was named the Regional Master Entrepreneur of the Year for 1997, and accepted the International Women's Forum Award for Companies That Have Made a Difference for Women.
